Josef Hurka's career spanned over four decades, creating numerous lamps for the Czechoslovakian brands NAPAKO, LIDOKOV, and DRUPOL. From mid-century to space age style, Hurka mastered lamp designing to an unparalleled level in post-war Eastern Europe. Since the 1940s, his lamps have illuminated homes worldwide, exemplifying the successful fusion of quality, affordability, and sustainability.

Hurka designed the iconic L 117/2028 model for LIDOKOV in 1962. The basic type had a shade that could be slid up and down on a supporting rod fixed in a round aluminium base. It was completely made of metal with elegant chromium-plated parts and produced in various colour options.
